Hello I am Japanese.so If my English is not enough,I'm sorry. Does anyone know this mark? My friend bought this ring in eBay and gave me recently. The seller described just 18K gold.
I researched this mark a lot with books and internet. But I could know just 750 is 18K. Help me,please!!

Re: Please help identifing hallmark
It seems to be Spanish - assayed in Madrid.
Hello
Welcome to the Forum.
Thank you for yours attempt to explain and ask in English - our knowledge of Japanese language and script is very far beyond.
It seems to me, that yours ring is of recently Spanish origin, and assayed in Madrid (hence the »M1« indication).
The ring is of 750-1,000 fineness of Gold. In the past until now also called to be of 18 carat fineness; but that isn't any more an official indication everywhere on the globe.
Antique sellers use this past time term - because the past trade used it, and on their antique items it's indicated in that manner.
Maker I don't know; sorry.
Kind regards silverport

Hi silverport
Thank you for useful information. I am very happy to know where the ring came from.
Also it's rare to get jewelry made in Spain in Japan. So I'm excited now.
Thank you for good information again!
