Swedish Beaker. What are the marks?

Post by Irontree55 »

I think this beaker is of Swedish origins. The 3 Crowns mark is very small. Even looking at it with magnifying glass I can only make out a few points in one crown. Is it Swedish? The date mark, the M with a line over it should be 1770. Is that right? The maker's mark should be the BB mark. Who was it? The dot in the center is from when it was in the lathe. The last mark is engraved and not stamped. What does that mark mean? Also why is the outside bottom so scratched up? It looks like file or scraper marks. What is it's silver content? It is 144mm or 5 11/16 inches high. It's top outside diameter is 112mmm or 4 3/8 inches. And the bottom outside diameter is 66mm or 2 ½ inches. Thank You.

No problem - when I saw I got so mad..
What and who do he think that he is. A "thank you" when he got the answers, or private memo saying same.
Why not? I know that whenever I buy something someone else should sell. And that is fully acceptabel. I am not better. When I spot a bargain - I dont tell seller.
So I am not better - thats not it. But no responce what so ever - that is to much.

Tomorrow I have forgotten :-)

Hi Hose_dk -

do not be angry! You help so many people and make them really happy.
Forget this unknowing, simple seller. Just imagine how often he bought and sold silver for the wrong price!
You have your versatile knowledge as advantage - but what has he? Blind and without manners in a tunnel - that is hard!

Regards

Indeed - and in fact I might also had helped nowing the facts. I am not in the marked for this. Sometimes I write to (auction) telling seller what he has. Buyer, seller, collector - we all benefit.
The problem is when we "clash" - interest varies and that is fine.
He is forgotten.
