Puiforcat Beaker

Post by jok23 »

I am trying to find out more about this silver beaker. It is made by Puiforcat and designed by Jean Puiforcat, but is not signed with his full name as similar examples of this design are. I was wondering if anyone knows what date it would be (1920s or 1930s?). It measures 3 inches in height. If anyone has a reference and date for the design I would be most grateful.

Thanks for your help.

This hallmark (E - un canif de bureau - P) is first used by Emile Puiforcat in 1857.
He died in 1883 but his hallmark was also used by his successor (Jean Emile Puiforcat?) until 1st of august 1927.
So I guess this art deco cup was made in the twenties.

In France on bigger silverware there is only a minerva mark and the hallmark of the silversmith, which only can lead us back to the period he worked in, not to a specific year the item was made.
