Hello - I've spent three weeks researching this piece, trying to figure out who the maker is. It looks contemporary to me because of the shape of the clasp, and on either side of the 585 mark there are stamped marks - one looks to be 'OE' or 'DE' and the other looks like '1AJ'. The maker's mark on the clasp looks to be a mirror of the letter p with a small arrow or point at the top.
Any help is gratefully received and very much appreciated!

Someone in another forum thought it might be a bow and arrow. I think they might be right. If anyone can help, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Welcome to the forum. Your mark looks like this one which was found on the U S Patent and Trademark Office site:
It is a trademark for gold and silver chains with the listed registrant being BALESTRA, MARIO INDIVIDUAL ITALY G. BALESTRA & FIGLI, VIA MARINONI 5/A BASSANO DEL GRAPPA ITALY. The first use of the mark in commerce was given as 1968, and the mark was registered in 1976.
The 1AJ may be the company that made jewelers findings for the bracelet. The 585 probably indicates 14K Gold. Maybe somebody with a background in jewelry made in Italy will be able to shed some more light on these other markings.

Silverly, I can't thank you enough for the help! What a kind person you are!! I usually deal strictly in costume jewelry, so this is way out of my league. It feels more like a burden than a windfall!
Now that I have some information, maybe I can get somewhere with it. Again, I can't thank you enough!
