Hi,
I have this ladle that looks to me to be Arts & Crafts period. It is quite long with a rather small bowl, so I guess that my first question would be concerning what purpose this served. Secondly, the back of the handle is stamped "Sterling" with some initials following. Due to the poor stamping, it's difficult to ascertain exactly what it reads, but it may be either "A-SF" or maybe "AJSF". Does anyone recognize this?

I do not know the maker, but the spoon is a mustard or condiment spoon. It would be placed in a mustard or jam pot, hence the long handle. in comparison with the bowl.

Hi Doc,
Thank you very much for the contribution. I probably should have provided dimensions for the piece - it's 12 1/2" long and the bowl has a diameter of 1 1/4", so rather long and large for a condiment jar. It obviously has to reach into a piece with some depth, some type of jar and probably would pick up a object rather than a liquid as the bowl is quite shallow. Would you have any other suggestions?
Thanks again!
Ron
