Christofle Toddy Ladle .Repaired or original?

Post by silversearcherz »

Hi,
I have this silver plated Toddy Ladle by christofle with what i think is black ivory handle that is a match to one I've seen on a site with a white ivory handle.
It measures 14.25 inches long and is marked christofle as you can see in my photo.
What I wanted to know is if I can also add two more photos after this which show the front and back of the bowl and what looks like a shoddy repair to me unless that's how christofle soldered the bowl on originally.

Hi Silversearcherz,

That's no problem, add as many photos as you need to explain your query.

Hi,

No, that's definately a repair. Is that a rivet I can see?

Over the years I've seen more broken and repaired toddy ladles than I've seen in good order. The design of these pieces just causes too much stress at the point where the handle meets the bowl.

Christofle have always had a fine reputation for quality, there is no way that it looked like that when it left their hands.
