This is small bowl (10cm diameter, 176 g) I own, I believe it is of Iranian origin, I think I can identify the Arabian numbers 84, so it is presumably 875 silver - I would greatly appreciate it if somebody could confirm this. Does anyone know the maker and the city mark and possibly the age of the bowl.

The way I have figured out the 84 is via the website http://www.omniglot.com and then checked on this website the silver content http://www.925-1000.com/a_Standards.html
Also I believe somebody mentions the Persian 84 in the forum.
Your mark looks more like a city mark - but really as I said - I am not an expert!

I thought the hallmarks on both your bowl and my platter were somewhat similar with the second number (reading left to right). They both have a verticle line intersected with a horizontal line on the right side, although there are some differences. I thought the number 4 in Arabic looked like a backward 3 or am I looking at the wrong chart?

It's Irianian, made in Shiraz. I don't know Irianian makers marks, but by the quality of the work I would say it's not very old. probably 50 years or less.

I should also note that while the 84 mark is denoting the purity of silver, in Iran this is absolutely NOT a guarantee of fineness! It isn't unheard of for them to mark plate with 84! Naughty!
