Salt Spoon..Joseph Emanuel?

Post by dartsil »

Salt spoon in very good order only marked with makers mark of {JE}.

Not 100% sure on this one but am edging towards Joseph Emanuel c.1820, anyone like to confirm or dismiss this?

I think that's James Erskine of Aberdeen.

Hi Trev, That was my initial thought but did not want to mention Erkine on the board to influence anyones thoughts, I know most of Erskines marks but have never came across it with just a single struck JE.

Using Richard Turners book on provincial Scottish theres no entry for this mark but the interesting part of Scottish Provincial is that some marks were used for short periods and not always recorded in any books thus far.

I agree the mark is identical to that of Erkines and it most probably is his mark.
