Does anyone recognize?

Post by barcor »

Good day. I am new to this forum. I am hoping someone here can help me. Attached is the pictrue of a coin... maybe token... found amongst a cache of coins dating in the mid to 1700's and early 1800's. The area it was found was a large port and trading area during this time in the New England area.
It is very similar to the New England 3 pence or 6 pence but I know it is not one of these coins. It is basically bare except for a single mark. It is in the middle and looks like SYT or SVT. Perhaps a silversmith mark. I have approached a few coin specialist who have no idea what this is and suggested I try looking into silversmiths.

Does anyone know how to attached pictures on this site? If there is no way to attach photos I can email someone the pictures if that would help.

Thank you for all your help.

Thank you! I will do this tonight. My work computer will not allow me to access the tinypics website you sent.

Hopefully this works. The first is the thing on the right with a close up of the stamp.
The second it is with a group of coins from the cache (not all the coins).
