Bread fork

Post by MAWubbolts »

Hello,

I dont know I can get here answere here about my questions.

Last year I bought this bread fork (28-29 gram) at a jumble sale. I'm often wondering about this breadfork. I would like to get more information about this breadfork; do you maybe know how old is this breadfork and who did make it? Is it a rare item?

Oh, I just saw that the Minerva-cup with the letter F is the sign of the Leeuwarden office. Have I right, haven't I?

Hello Matt,

Here we go, your first photo from the left to the right. B.V above 1 is the maker’s mark for M. & J.H.W. Visser, alias Firm M. Bijkamp, registered 1903/1925, location the Dutch city of Steenwijk. Lion Passant 2 for 833 silver fineness, mark used 1814-1953. Assay/Office mark, head in profile facing left wearing a Greek helmet with the letter F. The regional assay office mark for Leeuwarden. Date letter Y for the year 1908.
The cake fork carries a typical Dutch scene with water, sailing vessel and church. I believe the fork could have been made specially for the tourist trade and such not particularly rare.

Regards,

Oel
