Can someone help me identify this Russian hallmark?

Post by Pomellette »

I know it's Russian and 14k gold, but I can't identify the city or year.

Here are the pics:

Thanks.
(The pics say 18k b/c that's what the seller told me. Grrr..)

Hi.
Yes, it's russian gold of 19 century. Fineness is 56 (zolotnik)
AS - Arnd Samuel (born in 1812) - goldsmith , in 1849 owned gold and silver workshop in Petersburg.

Best Reg..

Thanks Dad (hee hee)!! By the way, this seller appears to have a very good reputation and I don't think they knew this was Russian nor 56 meant 14k gold, but merely tested it. Could it be the maker put in more gold than 14k?

56 zolotnik's = 14 karat's = 583 metric's fineness. Not more.
