Silver Brooch Mexican? Indian?

Post by bootqueen »

Hello
Can anyone identify the markings for me? The letter in the square are either FB or FP maybe FR? The top left has a word that starts with GU and the top right has 925. The little bell mark has the letter A or the #4 inside it. Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you
Belle

We need to see a pic of the mark. It looks Mexican and the GU could be part of Guad for Guadalajara. The bell is actually an eagle mark with a number in it.

Thanks for the reply. I reposted another photo of the mark when the first one didn't go through under the title re: Brooch.

That's going to be confusing for others who might have info, it should be kept in the same thread.

As I mentioned, the mark is Guad 925 FP and eagle 4. The mark is mentioned in the hallmark book but with no further info.
These were fairly common tourist pieces and the stone isn't likely actual Turquoise but chips of some sort set in a colored resin.
It dates from 1955-1979.
