Yes your fish fork in silver .800 (do you have a knife or a whole set?) is made in Romania as Dad states. This crown mark was used 1937-1955. The letter C below the crown indicates the assay office but unfortunately there is no information available on what office the letters C, N, O and P refers to. The known letters are A for Bucharest and L for Muntenia, but as said the rest...???

The interesting mark is, however, the R in the circle. It was used from 1940 to early 1948. It is an "occupation mark" used on objects manufactured in the occupied provinces of Romania i.e. North Ardealul 1940-44, as well as Bukovina and Moldavia 1944-45. It was also used a short period after Romania became a communist state 1945-1948 in order to indicate private silver objects brought from the mentioned provinces to Romania. Now you know that your fish spoon is made between 1940-48.

Dear Dad and Qrt.S,

Many many thanks for the answers :) :)

I did not expect such a quick and detailed info :) :)

There are also knives, spoons, ordinary forks same form/style.I got only 2 pieces from the owner as sample, but I hope I can buy the whole set

I,m from Hungary/Budapest - in the mentioned period Transsylvania (actually part of Roumania) belonged for a while to Hungary, probably "R" means some big town over there, Cluj-Kolozsvár, Oradea-Nagyvárad, Tirgu Mures/Marosvásárhely.... A difficult area with nationality problems for decades or siecles :( :( still existing nowadays, though both countries are EU members... As far as I know approx. 5 millions out of the whole transsylvanian population are Hungarian

Sorry, in preceeding message by error I wrote "R" - I meant "C" which should than be the town sign
Do you think it can be a transsylvanian product or that,s a false idea from me? regard StillHope/Ilona

As I mentioned:
Qrt.S wrote:...there is no information available on what office the letters C, N, O and P refers to.
Therefore your assumption can be correct or as well incorrect. I simply don't know.
