Hello,
i have some questions about this item:
Has just somebody seen similar item? I thing, it was originally used as boiled eggs server, but this is only my speculation. So, i very welcome your opinion.
Another questions are about marks - Can somebody identify mark "winged axe (hammer)"? Identical mark
i have on some other item, hallmarked Wienna republican hallmark (toucan's head) and czechoslovakian import mark (lily + C), without maker mark.
next, what mean mark "royal crown"? Something like "imperial eagle" mark for Royal warrant of appointment (hoflieferant)?
next question - Why austrian makers use also after 1872 separate city mark (square A-Wienna), though city mark is a part of hallmark after this year? it is some routine? I suppose, if "after 1872 mark" is in use
with separate square city mark (many things i have seen), item was made not too much after 1872 (end of
1800's), if "after 1872 mark" is in use without separate square city mark, item is something younger (beginning of 1900's). Can be?
Latest - Maker is Jakob Matzner (1865-85), yes?
Supplementar info - i have two similar items, similary marked (13 marks on every item).
Many thanks
M.(Czechia)

Hello.

I believe that mark was used by The Vienna firm Brüder Frank (Frank Brothers).

J. Matzner would have been the retailer.

Pat.
