Hello , I am new to the forum ,and collect mostly Aesthetic Movement silver & a little Japanese export silver . I have had these interesting spoons for years and have not found any info on them , I had thought they were European perhaps ? They look to be individualy hand made . Any hints will be helpful , thank you , Arlene / bustlelady

Re: figural rifle spoons
any marks on your spoons?
Re: figural rifle spoons
Hi Bustlelady,
Welcome to the forum.
This kind of figural rifle spoon I have seen with British hallmarks and with engravings to commemorate the end of the second Boer War May 1902. I believe the figural rifles were modeled after the Lee-Enfield rifles.
Regards,
Oel

no marks , sad , it looks like someone put a decent amount of effort into crafting them .
Re: figural rifle spoons
They do look excellent. I take that the spots on the straps are details and not marks.

Re: figural rifle spoons
thank you for your replies , yes the little spots are details of some sort on the strap . I would like to have some idea of the who & what of them. I am focusing more on anglo Japanese & mixed metal pieces now .
