Thread pattern teaspoons

Post by rat-tail »

Hi I have this set of seven thread pattern teaspoons I have dated to London 1783, the year before the duty came into force. Jackson ascribes the makers as William Playfair and William Wilson as noted on a 1782 meat skewer? posted these because I just like thread pattern. But any further info on the makers appreciated. - Many thanks Frank

Hi Frank
William Playfair, no record of apprenticeship or freedom, only mark entered with William Wilson 16th May 1782, address, 2 Portland Road, Great Portland Street, Marleybone, William Wilson apprenticed to James Coby 1st April 1761, free 1st March 1769, mark entered as above, Heal records them as Playfair Wilson and Co working near Rathbone Place as working silversmiths in 1784.
