Need help identifying marks! Cigarette case? Money case?

Post by nick891214 »

Hi, Im new to the forum so I apologize in advance if I broke any rules. Anyways, I cant find this hallmark ANYWHERE! Sorry for the bad pictures but I dont know if this is an old cigarette case or money case or what. It is said to be from around the 1920s? Its supposed to be SOLID silver with a thin layer or 24k gold plating on the inside. It weighs 3.4 OZ. The hallmark reads "STERLING", then it has an "R" which is enclosed by a box, then what looks to be like an anchor or a sword enclosed by a box, then the word "Co", then it has the numbers 6 1 3 with a space in between each. Please help, I cant find this ANYWHERE!!

Actually, I might of just found it myself! Can someone take a look and tell me if they agree? Also, does anyone know what the 6 1 3 stands for?

About halfway down there is a company called R. Blackinton & Co. Is this a good company where their stuff if worth more or anything like that? Any other information including what the 6 1 3 is would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks!!

It is a Blackinton mark, they usually made nice quality items, don't believe the name would bring any particular added cachet; and it is a cigarette case, most likely mid 20th century dating.
