William Rawle

Post by buckler »

A biography of William Rawle is now at
http://www.925-1000.com/forum/viewtopic ... 74&t=29147" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Unfortunately I did not have access to a copy of Leslie Southwicks book " London Silver-Hilted Swords: Their Makers, Suppliers and Allied Traders, with Directory".

If anyone either a copy or access to one, I would appreciate them letting me know if this contains any further or conflicting information on this unusual guy.

Thanks
Clive

Another source which I do not have access to is an article in Appollo Vol CXXVII : No 312 : February 1988
"William Rawle : Accoutrement Maker, Silversmith, Gunmaker, Medallist and Collector", by Howard L. Blackmore
Does anyone have access to this either please ?

Hi Clive,

I don't know if you are aware of this snippet of information. It appears to relate to the supply of equipment to the Marines in 1770.

I'll move this post into the General Questions forum.

I have, courtesy of an eBay seller, a copy of the APOLLO article on Rawle. The biographic details are confined to the more salacious details in the will, but the author's detailed description of items in Rawles collection is very interesting. A fierce collector indeed !
