Different marks same chain tag??

I hope someone can help. I have a gold link chain, on the tag at the end, one side of the tag reads "18K" and the other reads "14KT. G P" The "P" in underneath the "14KT. G"
Any ideas what might cause two seperate markings? Also the gold color is rather dark
