Where was this made?

I can't identify this mark that is on a sterling enameled compact. Are there marks missing to identify the origins ?

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

Hi Maggie,

The marks shown are London import marks for 1925.

The only clue for the origin of your piece, is the importer, George Stockwell. Stockwell was most known for importing silverware from France, Denmark, and Austria. An image of the whole item may help someone cast some light on the country of origin.

Many thanks for the response Trev. The U in the oval , what does that signify? That on really through me for a loop!
I have attached a photo for the enameled compact. No other marks can be seen.

George Stockwell was also a major importer of sterling-cased Swiss watches in the 1910s and 1920s.

Switzerland might be a good candidate for the origin of this locket.

Got a feeling this was made in Denmark. The Danish silversmiths loved to enamel their work and compacts were a fairly common production piece.
