Birmingham Trade Card and or directories

Post by Brab »

Can anyone please assist with a Birmingham Trade Card or an entry in A Trade Directory for a Firm known as Forrest and Wasdell or could be Forrest and Wardell, active in Birmingham 1800 to 1802. Makers if Caddy Spoons as well as silver boxes.

Thanks Brab

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum.

That would be Forrest & Wardell. They entered their mark at the Birmingham Assay Office on the 28th January 1801 from the address of St. Mary's Row, Birmingham.

The partnership was a short-lived one:

Notice is hereby given, that the partnership subsisting between Alexander Forrest the Younger and William Wardell, of Birmingham, Silversmiths, under the firm of Forrest & Wardell, was this day dissolved by mutual consent. the business will in future will be carried on by Wardell and Company, who are authorized to pay all Debts due from the said firm of Forrest and Wardell, and to receive all monies due to the same. Dated this 18th Day of March 1803.
Alex.Forrest, jun.
William Wardell

If you have a caddy spoon with their mark, we would be very pleased to see an image of the item and the mark.
