SPOON MAKER'S MARKS

This spoon has come down through my family and I am interested in the makers marks. From family history and the marks it appears to be late 18th - early 19th century

The makers' mark appears to be that of John Langlands and John Robertson of Newcastle, entered 1780.

That makes sense as my family was located around the Newcastle area. Is there any reason why there is no date mark?

I believe that at that time, considered "small" items such as small teaspoons were not required to be fully hallmarked. Often one finds only the maker's mark and the lion passant on such items. Apparently the mark on your spoon was used only between 1780 and 1784, by which later date a new mark had been entered.
