Swiss calendar watch - maker?

Post by Mittaluck »

I have identified my heirloom gentleman's pocket calendar watch as Swiss made from its three "Bear" hallmarks, indicating silver content above .875 and made between 1882 and 1934. Hallmarks were compulsory for Swiss watch cases and the case carries the assay stamp 0.935. The only other marks are a small capital M in a square box and beside it a larger figure "2". At the bottom of the case is a serial number 89583. There are no other marks, but a watchmakers scratch mark has been added in mirror reverse which appears to read: G 1912 HB. This would suggest it dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. The watch face is open; white enamel with large Roman numeral hour figures, and four dials. The top dial under the "12" has the months; the left dial beside the "9" the dates; the right dial beside the "3" the days; the bottom dial the second hand, but with a cutout revealing a disk displaying the phases of the moon. Between the dials are four sprigs like wheat ears in gold. Can anybody help me identify the watch further? The maker M? The likely date of manufacture? A common or rare watch of its type of its time?
