In hopes that this is not a repitition from somewhere else, on 5 October 1742 John Alderhead was granted freedom of the city by right of redemption in the company of goldsmiths after having served a seven year apprenticeship beginning 8 Novembert 1734 under Robert Lucas a citizen and haberdasher/ a silversmith by trade.

Written in the lefthand margin and sideways on the London Freedom of the City Admission Paper is a note stating that John was the "son of Joseph late of Ealing in Middlesex butcher dead."
