Bachruch pencil

Post by MarkRSalt »

Hi there,

I have come across a small silver slide action pencil, when closed measures 6.5cm. With it having a suspension loop I assumed it may be part of a chatelaine. It has a small turquoise bead on the slide action and the marks whilst rubbed can still be read as "A. BACHRUCH HOF JUWELIER".

I've found A Bachruch (on this site) in Vienna and Budapest in the late 19th century as a retailer, but no reference to any pencils ever made can be found.
I would like to attempt to discover who the possible maker was and its original use. If its part of a chatelaine more examples from Bachruch would be great as I would like to focus on getting the pieces back together.

A list of silversmiths who sold through Bachruch would good also.
