Venezian cutlery-maker unknown

Post by dolpheus »

Hello,
dear colleagues, somebody can help me with identification of this cutlery maker? It is marked (fork and spoon) by Lombardo-Venetian hallmark(1812-72) for big items, silver 800/1000 , by town mark for Venice and by maker mark, unknown to me (animal-lion?-to the left ower "F" in circle). Knive's marks are somewhat erased, but it is obvious also maker mark and 800 Ag hallmark for small items.
I very appreciate every info about maker and his working period.
Also, every info about share maker - Minacci from Torino - and his period- is very welcome.

Many thanks, regards
M.

Donaver & Dabbene identify the silversmith’s mark as that of Giovanni Fantini, with the sole notation that he was listed in Venice in 1811 at San Marco n. 840. However, a quick Google Books search turned up and Italian trade directory of 1838 in which he was still listed.

Hope this helps!
