Brief background: The item is a chunk jeweled lead glass lamp shade that's commonly attributed to Austria in origin. The symbol on the shade is a crown above 3 horizontal bands, red, white and red. Above the crown are three glass emerald stones. The crown of the lamp is surrounded by metal fleur di lis.
The elements on the lamp appeared to represent the imperial crown of Austria and the 3 horizontal bands below the crown seemed to represent the flag of Austria.
BUT... Austria's horizontal bands of red, white, red are of equal width. The bands on the lamp are not. The central white band is wider than the red bands. That may just be the making of the lamp or it may be deliberate. The other problem is that when the light is turned on the white band turns yellow in color. To my knowledge Red, yellow, red are not Austria's colors. But once again, the white band that turns yellow when the light is on may just be the nature of the lamp.
I looked for a possible red-yellow-red flag and found Karlsruhe (Baden-Wurttemberg). Can anyone identify the symbol? I've included two photographs, one with the light off and the other with the light on. Thank you very much.
