Hello forum,
Another teaser for the experts.
I spotted these forks offered as sterling silver (!) in a market and could not work out the hall mark.
1. They seem to have a Silver Standard Mark.
2. They seem to have a London Leopard's Head (crowned? Therefore-1822?)
My questions:
It has a "W" date mark. Or upside down "M". Either way I cannot date it, suggestions?
It has no maker's mark, unless the bottom cartouche is a pictogram maker's mark (meaning 16th Century). Unlikely!
What are your thoughts?
thanks
dinglut
"W" hall mark. Pre-1822? Much older??
