Assay Marks by a beginner

I have a set of six teaspoons all having a series of marks on them. I have no idea what they are or what they mean and would be grateful if someone could explain their meaning to me please. There appears to be a makers mark, ahead(!), a lion passant, three sort of towers and a letter mark which I cannot decipher. There is also a very tiny crescent with a cusp on the inside.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi David,

The maker was Robert Williams of Bristol. The spoons were assayed at Exeter in 1844.

The small crescent with cusp mark denotes the journeyman, the actual maker of the spoons.

Well thank you for your help, Trev. I had looked at Exeter but was unable to determine whether it was correct. I will look at your suggestions to see if I can improve my deciphering abilities!
This is a wonderful site and I am sure I shall be needing your expertise again.
