The mark on your tray was used by the Forbes Silver Company of Meriden Connecticut which was established in 1894 as a department of the Meriden Britannia Company for the production of silverplate holloware. This was one of the companies that merged to form the International Silver Company in 1898. I believe they used this mark into the 1920's.
Thank you for your quick response, so what you are saying is that the tray is silver plate? And thanx again for your help and kindness...I am new here just learning..... :)
Not sure if this makes it less or more confusing - but, these are trademarks, they are not hallmarks. Hallmarks are only found on solid silverware and the term only applies to silver from certain countries.
