Small pitcher- hallmarks?

Post by Rossy »

Hello to everyone,
I was wondering if any one knew anything about this pitcher or its hallmarks?
I have written to a couple of websites, but no one seems to know.
The pitcher was purchased at an antique shop in NYC, other that that I know nothing about it.
Hopefully someone can help me identify the pitcher.

Hello,
Nicely hand embossed item but I am suspicious if it`s made of silver.Have seen works like this made in Far and Middle East. Both America and Europe are well covered here, maker`s mark can be a problem too often but the country is easier to determine - unfortunately not even close to any mark I would recognize. Testing solutions are easily available; file deep enough somewhere it cannot be seen and apply acid - it will turn red if silver. The deeper red, the higher silver purity. If it`s silver we will try harder to identify it.

Thank you very much for your response AG2012, I will have it tested for silver and let you know the results.
