Hi.. I have a belt that they call "man in the maze" but upon researching there are many other artist who made the same stuff.. Others have signature of the maker or specific name.. Mine was just mark that looks like a cactus and the word sterling... Any information will help.
And how can i post a picture?
Thank you..

Re: Clueless about a mark..
I don't have any news on these. I have seen them in a lot of different places though. When I was a kid my grandma used to take us to a trading post whenever we went to NM with her and they had these there. Sorry if this doesn't help.
Re: Clueless about a mark..
It’s NAVAJO cutout overlay "concha" or "concho" links with two layers of silver. Time consuming process is required to create cutout design, and complex soldering process bonding the two layers together. Oxidation is done after soldering (contrary to common belief) to create blackened background because soldering highly oxidized silver is impossible and besides, pickling would destroy oxidized layer anyway.
Man in the Maze is an ancient symbol throughout the southwest of USA.
It’s NAVAJO for sure, but there are many unidentified maker’s marks. Generally, Navajo artists used initials for their artist mark, but cactus is documented Navajo silver mark.
Good luck!
