Can you make out the letter preceeding Parker in the mark? Is it a C?

Wev is the expert in this area, but until he returns I'll offer a possibility.
Allen Parker, New York, New York (c.1817). He used a mark of A.PARKER.

I was thinking coin silver which would be .900 fineness as compared to the .925 fineness of sterling. But the gold color has me stumped. Maybe someone with more experience in this area can help you out.
