Info on snuffbox?

Post by rogerharries »

Hi,

I have a Swedish snuffbox. I suspect 1838. Does anyone have any info on the maker and city?

TIA

Roger

The city is Sundsvall, the year is 1838, and the maker J. J. Gröhndahl (1788-1825), working 1817-1825, and whose shop was continued after his death by his widow, Sara Greta Thunberg, until 1842.

Hope this helps!

Hi Roger,

Welcome to the Forum.

I stand to be corrected, but I believe the standard at this time in Sweden was 830/1000.
