Markers Mark PG

Post by onslow81 »

Hello There

I have come across a silver flower or rose with the hallmark PG 925 with the anchor. Now i know what the 925 is and I think I know that PG stands for Perry Greaves. However I can not find anything on this maker other than he was making things from 1969 - 1977 ? Has anyone got some more information?

I assume that you have taken the information which you quote from my silvermakersmarks web site. You should note that the dates given there are only dates for which I have seen the mark. So 1969-1977 is not any sort of absolute dating. Furthermore the PG mark of Perry Greaves Ltd is PG in a conjoined double circle rather than the oval on your silver flower. This means that PG is not necessarily Perry Greaves Ltd. When identifying sponsors' marks it is important that the punch shape and the style of lettering be exactly the same as the reference example.

The style of the hallmark, without a date letter, means that it is from 1998 or later, when the date letter became optional.
