"Halsted" silver bowl

Post by SirBailey »

This doesnt look as nice as the bowl I just posted about, but the initials on it are from a very old relative, late 1700s, early 1800s, and marked with "Halsted". I assume early American, any ideas? About 8 inches wide and four deep, and like previous bowl, has a base attached to the bottom of the bowl for support I assume. Sorry for no picture, I will work on posting a picture if needed. Thanks for any help.

There was a Benjamin Halsted, New York, who worked at least from 1764 to 1805. Son joined the business in 1799. Don't know how he marked his pieces.

That is the mark. Thanks Very Much, you are amazing to find it so fast. I spent a fair amount if time and got nowhere. The mark on your link is the same as the one on my bowl! Thanks again.

Well, I don't know about fast -- it's taken more than five years to research and build the site and it's still far from complete. In any case, I'm glad it helped.
