I just inherited a set for 6 of sterling flatware. The sterling pat' on the back with Traub mfg on the back and a mark, looking like a capital T with a small b of the stem of the T.
Does anyone know this company. Traub was a jeweler in Detroit at the turn of the last century into the 1950's. They followed the urban expansion from the inner city out to Woodward Avenue. Did they make their own silver?, or did another company make a private lable for them? Or is TB as I described above another manufacturer and Traub printed his name there too.
Thanks, martha

Re: Traub manufacturing Detroit
An old question from the days when images were not a requirement on the forum, but just in case anyone is interested, here is an advertisement from the Detroit, Michigan jewellers Traub Mfg. Co. that shows their trademark, be it ever so small, at the base. As can be seen, it appears to have no resemblance to the one described in the above post.
