Unknown markings

Post by Dayce »

Could anyone help me please? I have 2 golden... Things, not too sure what they are for and can't tell if they are genuine gold or just plated. I can only make out one of the markings which is Ro 554522 (note, the o is raised with a dash underneath) can provide any photos if needed.
Thank you in advance.

Hi ~ your registration number 554522 falls between 548920 and 575817, so the design was registered in 1910; the other mark is "EPNS" in Gothic letters, so they are made of Electro Plated Nickel Silver, if you are seeing a 'gold' color, then the plating is worn to reveal the base metal, which can sometimes have a yellowish tone.
