New to the forum, but have collected/dealt in Sterling and silverplate for a number of years. Recently got this christening cup, but have not been able to identify the hallmark. I believe it is an American mark, and with the hammer design probably dates to the 1910s or 1920s. As you can see from my pictures the hallmark is a shield with a "J. E." at the top, "0.925" in the center, and what appears to be a tiny eagle at the bottom. Beside the shield is an "M" - possibly a date code or artist initial? Any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
