I am quite sure the name underneath the leftmost "A. Wilkins" is "A.D. Wilcox" and "Troy" is next to it. In one of my silver books I found an Alanson D. Wilcox, who worked in Troy NY in 1847-1850. I was unable to find any A. Wilkins.
My questions, then, are:
-- May I assume that the "Troy" refers to the city in which Wilcox worked?
-- Do you know any more about him -- or disagree with my Alanson D. Wilcox attribution?
-- Do you know anything at all about A. Wilkins?
-- Do you know anything about the hallmarks? Are they a flower, acorn and "D" (with apologies for the poor scan)?
-- Why is Wilkins' name stamped over Wilcox's name? Shall I assume Wilkins bought Wilcox's business and this was some leftover material?
Thank you!
