Hi, Etranger.

This mark looks as the original. But I don't see mark of the master. Without it - it is bad.

Hi Etranger, Hi all -

after so many ugly and absurd ikons - here is an authentic one. For better understanding I show all parts of it and how they are marked properly and according to the laws. If the shown marks are missing or look fishy - it is a fake. It is as simple as that. If you see a icon with silver oklad - just check and use all the informations you get on this forum for free on dayly basis from the experts. Mistrust dealers, auction sites and auction houses. Only believe what you know. Gather informations about icons - how they look and how they were made - material and style - and most of all: by whom.

Here you go:

The icon, front The icon, back

The silver oklad, detail The silver oklad, detail and marks

Detail of the marks The ikon separated, the painted tin (if the whole figures are painted is better than only faces, hands and feet

The silver frame The marks on the silverframe

The silver oklad The backside

The marks:

Moscow 1867, the maker ПК or МК? I tend to Karpinski 1865-1883.....

Many questions no answers,
Postnikov, put the words in a context. It is easier to translate them. A word ripped from its context is sometimes difficult to translate. However, as for now a guess
1) лжица could be a noun meaning female liar 2) 1) лжица 2) резъбой (with the soft mark b not hard mark Ъ) could be verb and could mean twisted or also the worm of a screw but without a context ????

Etranger! Dad is right. I have stated it many times on these sites and I state it again. It was strictly forbidden for the assayer to punch his mark unless the object wasn't marked with the maker's mark! If there is only an assayer's mark on an object it is imported to Russia. A question to you: what do you see behind the riza?

OK, sorry, didn't notice it. So many posts and I'm getting old....

??? I'm completely lost now. Where from are these (green marks). One should not mix one several objects in the same thread. I will most likely cause a mess like this. There are five different icons in this thread!!! Which one are we talking about not to mention the green marks!

I'm p........

Hi Postnikov,
In response to the icon which you have posted...
Surely the mark is ПК and not МК - take a look here. I have drawn over the marks to try and show what I mean.

This would suggest that it couldn't be Karpinski (P-L 2657, 2658, 2660), wouldn't it?

Hi piette -

I know that the mark is ПК, but he made only cigarette cases, no oklads.

Zik, zik, zik, zik...Postnikov. According to the rules only one item per thread and no multitasking. It will only cause a mess. Probably you will soon hear dognose's blaims believe me.

Anyway, have a nice evening all of you

Hi Qrt.S -

if members from Ukraine, Russia, United Kingdom, Germany and of course Finland get in heat, it is difficult to have some disipline .....:-)
Some globetrotter told me that Finns start hibernating at this time of the year and than lose the tracks.....

I wish you....
