Unknown Maker Marks on German Matchsafe / Vesta Case

Post by silberdosen »

Hello!

I have this matchsafe in my collection and would like to know who made it.
Silver content and country of origin are clear to me, but the maker mark "AS" ...who was it?
And can the year of manufacture been told by the (shape) of the other hallmarks?

Does anybody has a clue (or fact)?

Best regards

Hello, there were several makers over the years that used a mark like that. Maybe a picture of the object can narrow it down. There usually is no way to date a piece by the shape of the other marks. Best wishes, Bahner

Hello Bahner,

here comes a image of the matchsafe/vesta case itself.

Hello, found no exact match. The closest is a mark used by August Schofer from Pforzheim before 1914. Maybe he is the one. Best wishes, Bahner
