question regarding an interpretation of a date mark...

Post by angelokibi »

I've identified everything but the date mark. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about what it was. I looked at the information available but I'm not sure comparing the two.

The html code wasn't working, I'm sorry. The first link is of the marks.

Nice piece, it all seems to check for John Langlands of Newcastle, 1769-70.

Very good example of the Newcastle Lion Passant of the period Jacksons gives for 1759 - 79.

To save owners of small pieces of Newcastle silver confusion I should add that the assay office at Newcastle also used a very rectangular punch (easy to confuse wuth Exeter) during at least some of this period.
