Flatware with four leaf clover and "90" marks

Post by shelina »

HI - I promise I have looked and can't find this mark. I'm pretty sure this set is European, as it was found with a bunch of other silver pieces marked "800". Am I right in thinking that the "90" is the purity? I'm sure it could be something else, but am really at a loss; thus it's here in the world silverplate section! Thanks much for any help!

Hello, that is German plate. 90 is the weight of fine silver used during electroplating (90 Gramms). Maker is Seibel from Mettmann, still active today under the name Mono. See:

Your pattern came first out at the beginning of the 1930ies. Best wishes, Bahner

Thanks so much for all of that information! I was going nuts looking up cloverleaf marks. Thanks again.
