Unknown mark

Post by Northumbrian »

This watch has 3 marks on it - the top ones (above and below the 0.800) are the Swiss woodgrouse. The one on the right appears to be a german mark, but the one on the left has me defeated. I cant find a reference to it or anything like it anywhere else.

The marks are on the inside cover of a watch passed down through the family. Giving it an age would help me decide who it used to belong to! There is a name inscribed but that is the name of a relative - it could be one of 2 with the same name unfortunately.

I suspect the case is Swiss made and was retailed in Germany. The "S in Crown" would be the German retailer's mark.
However, it could be the other way around (German made case for a Swiss watchworks manufacturer) if made before Switzerland introduced its import mark in 1917.

Regards, Tom
