Coin Silver salt spoons D Parmely dates?

Post by shelina »

I'm having trouble with dating the maker on these. I can find only one reference to a Daniel Parmely, but it has conflicting dates; one says 18th C., other 1860. Does anyone have any information on this maker? Thanks for your time.

Hi Shelina,

Wev,s site has that mark for Daniel Parmely b.1808, d.1875.
He was working 1833-1858 at Pittsford NY and 1859-1865 at Rochester NY.

Daniel Parmely continued to be listed as a watchmaker in Rochester Directories at the same address he was at during the American Civil War period, 37 Stone and ditto for his house.

Another correction for myself: I meant to say Daniel Parmely continued to be listed as a watchmaker in Rochester Directories through 1875 at the same address he was at during the American Civil War period, 37 Stone and ditto for his house.

I'll to give up on this business some day soon if I can do any better than this.
