Hi, have been looking at this websight for weeks, some knowledgable people, hope you can help.

Hello.

Have not been able to confirm it, but I think that silverplate mark was used by Marples & Company.
They had similar sterling marks entered in Sheffield and Birmingham.

Founded around 1900. Became Marples, Wingfield & Wilkins from 1908 - 1940.
Believe this mark was used 1900 - 1940.

Like I said, not sure about this, just offering a possibility.

hi pat thanks for your info,how do i know if it is silverplate there is know wear on the plate,do you know what the numbers mean.[cheers] bill.

The number 2472 is a catalog or pattern number.
