Hello, I need help identifying the marks on a pair of candlesticks -- although they don't have the Spanish pentagram, I'm fairly certain they are Spanish given the initials on them -- J M Y y B.
The maker's mark on the left seems to say, rather clearly, CARRERAS. I identified two possible silversmiths, Francisco Carreras and Jacint Carreras, both of whom worked in Barcelona in the 19th century. The only issue is that there is no first initial on these particular hallmarks, while the two examples I found include the maker's first initial.
The middle mark appears to be a rearing horse? Perhaps a rooster or bird?
The right mark appears to say BARNA, but could be BARYA / BAKYA.
Any help would be greatly appreciated! Many thanks!
