What-is-it question CXIX.

Post by 2209patrick »

This silver item might be an easy one for our knowledgeable group, but I had not seen one until recently.
It is about 4 inches (10.16 cm.) high.

What is it called or used for ?

Yes Cheryl, it's a Brandy warmer.

The heating device can be an alcohol burner or a candle.
Here's some silverplate examples from Leonard's 1981 catalog ( after they became part of Towle ):

Follow-up question: What is another name for a brandy glass ?
I've just been informed, from a reliable source, that there are 3 other names for a Brandy glass. What are they ?

Snifter, balloon or bauble, though here they are also refered to as bulbs.

Hello JLDoggett.

Yes, snifter, balloon and bauble are the names we were looking for.
