1927 Bookmatch Case C&C

Post by westcott »

First posting on this site, so please forgive gaffes. I would like help please identifying this sponsor mark (C&C). The nearest I have found to it is that of Albert Cohen & Charles Solomon - but that is a Sheffield mark.

Welcome
I believe you are correct with Cohen and Charles. They entered their mark in other Assay Offices besides Sheffield including Birmingham.

Hi,

Cohen & Charles were a London based outfit established in 1890, their address was 12/13 Thavies Inn, Holborn, EC. They were taken over in 1958 by S J Rose & Sons and ran as a seperate business until 1974 when they were absorbed into the parent company.

Thank you both for this. Perhaps it won't take so long for me to get my eye in and become a net contributor
